Prepaid Cellphone Plan

From Mr. Waldo

While I was chaperoning the Disney Trip, I noticed that a number of students were using prepaid

cell phones (they were using my external battery pack to charge their phones) and I thought I would

pass on the information for the company I personally use. This company has a new plan starting on

December 20, 2011 that is a very good deal compared to some of the other prepaid plans currently on the market.

The company is called PagePlus cellular and they have a plan called "The 12"

"250 Minutes, 250 Text/Picture Messages, 10 MB of Data

The 12 plan offers 250 domestic voice minutes, 250 domestic text messages, and 10 megabytes of data transfer.

All this for $12 a month on one of largest networks in the nation."

                                                                            The 12 Plan                                     Talk n Text 1200
                                                                            250 Minutes,                                     1200 Minutes,
                                                                          250 Messages &                                 3000 Message &
10mb of Data                             100mb of data (per month)
                                                                            $12.00/mo                                              $29.95/mo

PagePlus uses the Verizon Wireless network so the signal is the same as any Verizon Wireless customer

in the Edinboro area.

To use their plans, you have to use one of their phones

or Amazon.com sells a phone, the Palm Pixi Plus for around $40.00, that I use and is fully compatible

with PagePlus Cellular. It also has WiFi capability to access the internet if you are somewhere with a WiFi signal.

Click on the picture below to see it at Amazon.com.

If you use this phone, I would suggest using a company called Kitty Wireless to buy the plan and

set up the phone. They are very good and have excellent support via their email and all information

on using this phone with PagePlus is on their web page. You can either pay for the plan each month

or they have an autopay system so you can setup up an account and it will be deducted automatically from

whatever account you want to use every month. You can also set up your account so they will send you

daily or weekly emails showing how much time/texts/data you have used which makes it easy to keep

track of. You can also buy the PagePlus phones shown above from Kitty Wireless. Kitty Wireless will also port over

your existing Cell phone number if you want.

I'm not a representative for either of these companies, I just thought it was good information for anyone

using prepaid phones that might be paying more than $12 a month...if the 250 minutes and 250 texts is all

you need, it might be worth looking into. I don't know if the 10mb of data is enough for some people but

all I use data for is checking weather so that is plenty for me. I usually have the 3G data shut off on  my phone

so it doesn't use 3G in the background without my knowledge.

I know several people that use TracFone and Straight Talk and they are planning on switching to this plan once

it is available. You would have to compare the plans to see if this would be a better deal for you.
